SC2891

Start SC Instance#1
In Instance#1:
Global Settings >> Date/Trade Service Settings >> Main Settings >> Service Settings
the service is then (read only): DTC - Sub Instance [trading]

and in the Service Settings there are is a Yes/No field
Use Sierra Chart Instance Username And Password
with presumably related Username and Password fields.

What are these fields used for??
I could not find these in the documentation.

This means that when the sub instance logs into the main instance of Sierra Chart the username and password that you have set on the main instance will be used to login.

I do not understand this.

When I created the Instance, the default was
Use Sierra Chart Instance Username And Password = Yes
and the Username and Password fields are empty.
It still "Logs in" - whatever this means.

If I set
Use Sierra Chart Instance Username And Password = No
also everything works.

There seems to be no difference in behavior - at least nothing that I have observed.

But maybe something is different somewhere under the hood.
And since it is unknown, also the consequences are unknown - and potentially dangerous.

So, what is the real meaning of this setting?

The meaning is as we described.

In the main/server instance of Sierra Chart, set this to Yes:
Global Settings >> Sierra Chart Server Settings >> DTC Protocol Server >> DTC Protocol Server >> Require Authentication
