Hi, I updated to V2867 and experimented with SierraChart Timer VS OS timer. I have my Chart DOMs Chart Update Interval in Milliseconds set to 20ms. Multiple Chart Back Test Update Interval in Milliseconds: 20 Timer Management Enable: No Minimum Delay Between Chart Updates in Milliseconds: 20 I did some tests in Replay mode for the NY Open of today on the ES/NQ futures (very volatile). Here are the results : When I use the Sierrachart timer : - the Chart Update Interval is clearly higher than 20ms. It looks like 100ms or more. Chart update is very slow. - CPU utilization is very low. - Draws Per Second are low (always under 10) - Calculations Per Second are also low ( always under 10) With OS timer : - I have a true 20ms Chart Update Interval. Charts are fluid and very fast. - CPU utilization is higher - Draws per Second are higher (above 30 from time to time) - Calculations Per Second are higher (above 30 from time to time) Question : 1) Do you know why I can't reach a high refresh rate with the SierraChart Timer ? Another off-topic question (not related to V2867) : I always see a very big difference of CPU utilization between Replay Mode and Live Mode. My CPU utiliziation is about twice less in Replay Mode, for the same market at the same time of day. 2) Is it normal for SierraChart to use way less resources during Replay Mode than in Live Mode ? |

Try lowering these two values: I have my Chart DOMs Chart Update Interval in Milliseconds set to 20ms. Minimum Delay Between Chart Updates in Milliseconds: 20 You could set this to 5: Minimum Delay Between Chart Updates in Milliseconds It is impossible for us to know the answer to this. We have no idea: 2) Is it normal for SierraChart to use way less resources during Replay Mode than in Live Mode ? Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. With Minimum Delay Between Chart Updates in Milliseconds: 5 I get better results. Now, with Chart Update Interval in Milliseconds set to 20ms, the Chart update interval looks like 40ms true refresh rate. I also tried 10ms but it changed nothing. It is way better than before where 20ms Chart Update Interval in Milliseconds looked like 100ms true refresh rate. But in my case, OS timer still gives way better performance. 20ms looks like 20ms, and 10ms looks like 10ms. I wonder if other users experience the same phenomenon ? |
