Hi, Was happy to find this indicator until I realized many swing levels are completely wrong. I don't know algo used to do this but generally a swing high has3 bars to the left of it it is HIGHER than and its higher than 3 to the right. I coded this up with black arrows marking what I consider valid swings, no algo way will catch every swing perfectly and there will be exceptions to this rule for valid swings that don't fit this criteria. In picture below I started in the middle and numbered incorrect swing highs and lows. There were 9 that are totally wrong. I labeled with an A the number of times a swing is correct but my 3 back and 3 forward algo failed to show correct level. So in this example mine was wrong 3 times vs 9 for how this is done now. I think there has to be an OPTION for number of bars to the left/right and let the end user determine what THEY consider a correct swing. Also I noticed for labels there is no way to color a HH green and a LH red and same for LL and HL. I would love to see the SLOPE option for coloring work. |

Hi, To achieve this, you can simply use the ZigZag study. Zig Zag You can customise the % of retracement to adjust the sensitivity and show the Dow markers ( HH, HL, LL, LH ) and many more options. The study is native, and cost nothing. Have a nice day. |

The documentation for the "Market Structure MSL/MSH" is here: Market Structure MSL/MSH It may not be what you want, but the study definitely does what is documented, as we have gone through and tested all of them to ensure everything is correct. That said - as DFromeaux states, you may want to look at the "Zig Zag" study or the "Swing High/Low". Thank you both I coded my own and it turns out if a swing high/low has same high or low as previous one its an incredible signal so happy I had to do this myself as discovered a new small edge! Thanks DFromeaux didn't know that will play around with that as well for maybe bigger sized swings VERY useful. |
