Hello, Since the lastest update (to version 2851), I noticed that when opening serveral chartbooks, the MDI bar of the current chartbook now displays *all* the chart windows, even the chart windows from other chartbooks. This was not the case before the update ie. the MDI bar used to display the charts contained in the opened chartbook only. Is there a settings that allow me to revert back to that? Thank you, Regards |

Please check whether the option for "Window >> Window Always Visible" is enabled for those charts that are showing in the other chartbook. This would be why they are showing in the other chartbook. Hello John, Thank you for your response. I have attached a screenshot of the MDI bar for one chartbook; The charts named "CONTEXT" and "FOOTPRINT" are in one chartbook (ACCESS), and all the other charts are in a seperate chartbook called "DASHBOARD". Yes the charts of DASHBOARD are marked as "Always Visible" (this is a multi-monitor setup, and the charts of DASHBOARD are all detached, always visible and all located and displayed permanently on 1 screen) but I have not changed the settings and before the update yesterday to v2851, the MDI bar of the the ACCESS chartbook was only showing the charts CONTEXT and FOOTPRINT (and not the rest of the charts belonging to DASHBOARD as it does now). Why this is important to me is that now when i change chartbook, i have to take the additional step to scroll through all the charts with the arrows before getting to the chart i need and whilst trading, this is not helpful. Please could you confirm if something has changed with the lastetst update which could explain this change and if possible, how can i revert back to the previous mode of displaying charts in the MDI bar (ie. displaying the name of the charts that belongs to the chartbook only). Thank you, Regards |

Hello John and SC engineering! I have the same problem. Everything was fine 2-3 months ago. Now, in the latest versions, each chartbook displays charts from other chartbooks. The "Main Menu -> Window -> Always Visible Window" option is unchecked for all charts. To test this functionality in the build 2852, I created two new chartbooks with several charts in each. Everything works fine, without any issues, i.e. when I switch between new chartbooks Sierra displays charts that are only belong to the currently selected chartbook. The problem appears with my chartbooks created before October 2025. When I open any of my old chartbooks, each of my new test chartbooks shows charts from these old chartbooks which do not belong to it. The more old chartbooks I open, the more tabs with charts appear in my new test chartbooks. You can imagine how many chart tabs now appear in each chartbook when I load my original multi-monitor setup, consisting of six chartbooks with 8-12 charts each. It looks like you introduced some new setting in the recent versions, and I can't find a workaround. Apparently, the structure of the old chartbooks is slightly different from the new ones - there is a kind of an internal flag/toggle somewhere that controls this behavior. Furthermore, I use the Alt+A and Alt+S hotkeys to switch to the previous/next chartbook, as well as Alt+Z and Alt+X to navigate to the previous/next chart within the currently selected chartbook. Switching between chartbooks and charts works ok as before, but each time I press these hotkeys, a system sound plays (standard windows beep). Previously there was no sound. Thank you! |

This is helpful: The problem appears with my chartbooks created before October 2025. When I open any of my old chartbooks, each of my new test chartbooks shows charts from these old chartbooks which do not belong to it.
We understand why this happens and we are thinking about a solution: Switching between chartbooks and charts works ok as before, but each time I press these hotkeys, a system sound plays (standard windows beep). Previously there was no sound.

My apologies, I must have misled you. I double-checked everything and disabled the "Main Menu -> Window -> Always Visible Window" option in all my charts across all my chartbooks. In some of my charts, including the ones in my chartbook that I sent you at your request, this option was still enabled. Everything is fine now in this regard. The only remaining issue is the sound while using hotkeys combined with the 'Alt' button.

Dear engineers! One problem has been solved, but another has appeared. Some of my chartbooks contain detached charts. This is helpful for a multi-monitor setup since chartbooks cannot be detached. I do not know of any other way to distribute my charts across different screens within a single Sierra instance. Now, if the option "Main Menu -> Window -> Always Visible Window" is disabled, these detached charts are only visible when their parent chartbook is selected, but disappear from the screen when I switch to another chartbook. Furthermore, if this option is enabled, these detached charts do not appear in their parent chartbook as chart tabs, but still can be navigated through "previous/next" commands and it's ok - we have such a behavior before and it has not been changed in the latest versions. The problem is that these detached charts do appear in foreign chartbooks as chart tabs, however they are excluded from the "previous/next" traversal, which is also fine. So finally, to summarize my question: is it possible to prevent "always visible" detached charts from being added as tabs to foreign chartbooks? Do you understand me? Thank you!
