Dear Support, I am following the ongoing work on Sierra Chart’s internal window management and would like to ask two related questions aligned with this development. 1. Quote Board, Time and Sales, Study Summary window behavior At the moment, windows such as Quote Boards, Time and Sales, and Study Summary always behave as independent windows, regardless of whether they are attached or detached. With Sierra Chart now managing its own window system, would it be possible for these windows to behave like normal Sierra Chart windows in terms of parent/child relationship, focus, and stacking behavior? This is a consistency question rather than a request for new functionality. 2. Optional tab grouping This is an exploratory question only. In Trading Technologies MD Trader, DOMs can be grouped using tabs within a single window. A similar concept also exists in Fluxbox at the window manager level. https://library.tradingtechnologies.com/trade/mdt-mdtrader-display.html https://fluxbox.org/features/#tabs Given the move to internal (non-OS) window management, I am curious whether optional tab grouping for windows (for example, DOMs) is technically compatible with Sierra Chart’s current design direction, or if it is considered out of scope. Thank you for your time and for the continued work on this area. Best regards and Happy Holidays. |

This is a consistency question rather than a request for new functionality. 2. As we understand what you are asking about, this is coming with each Chartbook being contained within its own window: Given the move to internal (non-OS) window management, I am curious whether optional tab grouping for windows (for example, DOMs) is technically compatible with Sierra Chart’s current design direction, or if it is considered out of scope. All of the Trading DOMs that you want in a tab group will be in its own Chartbook which will be visible all of the time. A Trading DOM can be attached into the main window for the Chartbook which it belongs to. And it will have its own tab. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. We will look at making a Quote Board an MDI child window.

Thank you. The approach of keeping DOMs in a detached chartbook and using the chartbook’s MDI tabs will work very well — it is actually exactly the kind of solution I was hoping for and sounds perfect. I also appreciate you looking at the Quote Board as part of the new window management. If it is not too much trouble, the Study Summary windows could also be included, as those are ones I use heavily. Thanks again for the continued work on this. |
