Hi, I'm on the verge of getting a new PC and recently i came accross a post on the forum where the support told a member that it's better to have an SSD and use the SSD. My question is do you have any SSD that you would recommend? To put sierra chart on ? I've thought of a 2T samsung SSD that's quite popular. Also for my new PC i've thought of an i9 intel CPU; is this necessary or not? And regarding the RAM i currently have 32GB would it be great to get to 64GB? Best regards, Kerozene. |

Yes absolutely use a SSD. However, we would think these days, all computers would have those instead of a hard drive. You will want to get an NVME SSD. Samsung has a lot of different models. You would definitely want one, that has high endurance. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. For portability i've thought of an external one, would that work or would you advise against for permission problems, etc?

Do not use a portable drive for Sierra Chart. There is a lot of reading and writing of data, and a portable drive will be limited by the connectivity speed of the port you are using. An internal drive will have much better speeds.

But on that same post a guy says that we should have a drive with nothing else but sierra on it, this would mean to build my new computer with 2x internal drives am i correct? Trading is taking more and more space in my life so i'm totally okay with doing it. But what should i do with that comment "It's better to have one SSD for sierra only and nothing else on it"? Best regards, & Thank you for your time, Kerozene. |

Yes, if you can do this, then this is best. Trading is taking more and more space in my life so i'm totally okay with doing it. But what should i do with that comment "It's better to have one SSD for sierra only and nothing else on it"?
This is what the 2 drive recommendation is about. One drive for Windows and everything else you use, then another drive just for Sierra Chart. If you are not using a Laptop, then having multiple drives is not difficult to do.
