Hello Sierra Chart, What is the preferred method for testing and/or displaying the real-time latency with Sierra Charts? How can I determine the true latency in milliseconds from the terminal to the server? I understand the DD in the Region Line is the difference between the current time and time of the Last Trade (or Last Bid / Ask Update time), but is this also the delay from the terminal to the server as I see this actively changing from mid 100's to mid 300's? Thank you |

Hi John, Both. Data for how long it takes to actually receive and see what is happening. Trading for how long it takes for an order to be sent and executed. |

Follow the instructions here to enable NTP: Network Time Protocol Client: Usage Also refer to: Network Time Protocol Client: Operating System Privileges for Setting Time When your computer's clock is set accurately, the Data Delay field, will accurately indicate the actual delay from the time stamping of trades and bid/ask updates, from the exchange order processor. Giving you a very precise measurement, of how much of a delay there is of the data you are seeing in Sierra Chart. That field will be updated every two seconds. So it is not every trade. It is an option for display in the "Chart Header". When selected, it will show as "DD:" in the Chart Header. Refer to the following: Global Settings Menu: Customize Chart Header - Standard (Global Settings menu) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
