when I select the DVP drawing tool, with my custom config set with CFG button1, I no longer get my saved settings, I only get the default settings.

Other drawing tools (horizontal line etc) work fine.

the message log has the following

2025-10-17 16:31:25.338 | Error opening Study Collection file for determining internal version. C:\SierraChart\Data\DVP extended value.StdyCollct. File error: Windows error code 2: The system cannot find the file specified.

this file exists, but the error does not always appear. sometimes the default profile settings are drawn and no error appears

The error is explicitly stating that this file "C:\SierraChart\Data\DVP extended value.StdyCollct" is not present. That error is from the Operating System, so when Windows is trying to access the file (per the program asking it to do so) it is coming back and stating that the file is not there.

The file needs to have the exact name as shown in the error, spaces and everything. So make sure you have an exact match to the filename.

If the is present and in the proper location, then try to load the Study Collection itself associated with it. To do this select "Analysis >> DVP extended value". If it loads properly then there is no reason for there to be an issue with this working with the Drawn Volume Profile.

I just tried to create a new settings file, assign it to a config button and use it. It didn't work, same problem, but this time I got the following message:

2025-10-17 17:58:02.437 | Source file does not exist when saving backup of C:\SierraChart\Data\dvp20.StdyCollct. No backup made.

the file dvp20.StfyCollct definitely exists in the data directory. thanks.

Check to make sure you have space available on the drive where you have Sierra Chart installed. These are odd messages to be getting if the files exist and you have space.

If that is not the issue, then please get us that file so we can see if we have an issue with it. Refer to the following for how to get us a file:

This specific Study Collection file opens fine for us. No problems at all.

There must be some file access issue. Refer to:
Error Messages When Opening Files

The information on that page, should be applicable. Maybe security software is blocking access to the file.
