Hi Support, I want to create 2 types of volume profiles for the day displayed on the right: VP Type 1: eveninng session + day session - then rest VP Type 2: Only the current session (evening or day session) - reset at each session Session times is set to: Start: 9:30 - end 16:59:59 Evening start: 18:00 - end 9:29:29 I am confused about the below 2 options as they seem very similar. Can someone plese shed some light on what the key difference is? I tried both and couldn't figure it out. ======= From Session Start Time to End This defines one Volume Profile at the last day in the chart that starts at the Chart >> Chart Settings >> Session Times >> Start Time setting, until the last bar the chart. For additional information, refer to Session Times. ======= ========= Trading Day Start Time to End - Reset at Day Session This creates one Volume Profile at the end of the chart which starts at the trading day Start Time which is based on the Session Times, when not using the Evening Session Times. When using the Evening Session Times, and the latest Date-Time in the chart is in the day session, than the volume Profile will start at the Session Times >> Start Time. When the Evening Session is encountered, then the Volume Profile will start at the Session Times >> Evening Start Time. So it always resets itself to the beginning of the current session within the overall trading day, when using the Evening Session Times. ========= |

We have updated the documentation for the option for "From Session Start Time to End". This is really the Trading Day as defined by your Session Times. So these two items give you the two profiles that you are wanting. Hi @John I checked the updated documentation but the description and name of the setting is not clear/accurate/definitive (to me at least). It seems the names of the studies are swapped w.r.t. to what the setting does. Also any setting that resets at a certain point should have that indicated in the name. i didn't check all of them, but for these specific two, these are my thoughts. Please consider changing the setting name and further clarify the description. ============================= From Session Start Time to End This defines one Volume Profile at the last day in the chart that starts at the beginning of the trading day and goes through the last bar in the chart. The trading day is defined by the settings for Chart >> Chart Settings >> Session Times. ============================= This seems to be using: Start: Evening Session Start time End: Time current bar - resets at session end More clear name of the setting would be: From Trading Day Start to End - Reset at New Day Assuming that with Trading Day start refers to the Evening Sesssion Start - which could be added as a note ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Trading Day Start Time to End - Reset at Day Session This creates one Volume Profile at the end of the chart which starts at the trading day Start Time which is based on the Session Times, when not using the Evening Session Times. We saw this, but we will not be changing the names. This would confuse people who have been using the system and are familiar with the current names.

Thanks, John. This is understandable that the name should not be changed to avoid confusion and existing configs. But please update the documentation with notes! |
