Hi for some reason the latest candle does not show up on DUOL stock chart even though I am connected to the internet.

Here is an update of what happens when I right click and delete and download the data. You can see that the last candle is from 8/15 instead of today's date of 8/18

Do you have any special symbol settings setup?

Please uncheck the option for "Global Settings >> Symbol Settings >> Use Custom Symbol Settings Values". Then select OK to close that window and then try the right-click and select "Delete and Download Data".

Let us know if you continue to have an issue.

I do have special symbols settings on to assign specific tick size for every stock I follow since they require different tick size. And you are spot on with the setting part. DUOL stock is the only stock I am having issues downloading the data with.

So when you disable the use of custom symbol settings does DUOL work properly? If so, then there is something wrong with the symbol settings you setup for that symbol.

I made the changes like you said and clicked ok and downloaded and deleted the data. But the price does not move forward by creating another candle. It stays stagnant with the last candle generated. Check the time in the screenshot is 1:54 and the candle shows 1:52 pm candle on a 1 minute chart.

Please do the following for us:
- Close all Chartbooks.
- Select "Window >> Message Log" to open the Message Log window.
- On the Message Log window select "Edit >> Clear Log".
- Close or set aside the Message Log.
- Select "File >> Find Symbol" to open the Find Symbol window and open an intraday chart for the symbol RDDT.
- If the chart is not already a 1 minute chart, set it to have a Bar Period of 1 minute.
- Once the chart loads, wait 5 minutes and see if new bars are displayed. If they are, then stop here and let us know.
- If new bars are not showing up, then get us your Message Log by following these instructions:

I did what you said. It is weird showing all the charts in the future. 19:59:00 Tuesday 19th August which is ahead. Is my timing messed up? I am Eastern Time and it is 6:13 pm 19th August Tuesday.

We are very confused at this point.

In the Title Bar of the Sierra Chart software it shows the computer time as 22:11:36. Therefore the system showing a bar at 19:59:00 is reasonable. But the post you made that included that image states that it was done at 18:13:00 Eastern US Time - and the post itself is time stamped as 22:13:20 UTC, which would be 18:13:20 in Eastern US time.

Please check the clock for the software you are using to run Sierra Chart and see how it is set, as there appears to be something incorrect with it.

My apologies. You are correct that it was originally set to UTC. I just set it to New York time zone. However, I still does not solve the issue that the latest candle is not displayed. Attached are two pictures with first one showing the candle not updated with 'Use Custom Symbol Settings Values' turned on. The error of Historical Data Download Failed is displayed

The 2nd picture is one with 'Use Custom Symbol Settings Values' turned off. Still the same issue after Deleting and Downloading Data. Candle on 1 min chart shows 11:01 whereas the current time is 11:03. The Historical Data download Failed error does not pop up this time.

I followed the steps in #7 and clicked on 'Copy Log' but there is nothing to copy. When I paste it in this message, it pastes the last thing I copied which is not anything related to message log.

You can also see behind that message log that the chart ended at 16:42 whereas the time is 5:09 pm Eastern.

Is your Message Log always blank?

If so, then please check the following setting and make sure it is set to "No":
General Settings Window: Disable Visual Message Logging

Also, please set all the items on the "Global Settings >> Message Categories" window to "Yes", at least while we are going through this so we can see information in the log. Refer to the following:
Message Categories

Then please go through the steps in post #7 again to get us the log.

With regards to the last image you supplied, you will notice that the trading for that symbol drops off towards the end of the day, as the few bars toward the end are just the Open/Close and do not show much trading (otherwise the High and Low would be further out). When we look at this symbol, there was no trading occurring after 16:42 Eastern US Time. So what you are seeing is not due to a problem with the data, it just simply is the data.

As such, be sure to wait for tomorrow when this instrument is trading heavily and see if you are still behind. Then go through the steps to get us the log at that time.

Unfortunately, the log does not show anything out of the ordinary.

Did you do anything in terms of deleting the data between the last two images you took?

Also, what are the Session Times set to for the chart from the last image you took?

Can you get us another image taken today during the active trading hours?

Yes I deleted the data before I sent the last image since it is mentioned as a step in #7.

Session time start: 9:30 to 15:59 and then evening session from 16:00 to 9:29.

I reopened the same place where I left everything from the last image while posting this message and you can see that it does not update by itself. Check the crosshair time on the time axis.

Disable Use Custom Symbol Settings and reconnect to the data feed:
Global Symbol Settings: Disabling Custom Symbol Settings

Let us know if that resolves the problem. If so, we will give you further instructions on what to do. If you have made custom symbol settings for that symbol, then they are not completely set up correctly.

We have updated the documentation here to explain how to properly duplicate an existing Symbol in the Global Symbol Settings to accomplish what you need:
Global Symbol Settings: Duplicating Existing Settings for a Symbol

Any existing symbol settings you have set up for literal stock symbols need to be deleted and you need to go through this procedure again for them.

I am having the same issue even after copying '???' named symbol. the candles are not updating by themselves but instead just update only when I Delete and Download Data. Please look at the candle time on the 15 min candle chart. I have shown with the real time shown on top right corner of screen. It is 10:32 which should create another candle but we are still at the candle that was created at 10:15.

I have also attached the symbol settings screenshots to show if I am doing anything wrong. This only happens when I use 'Custom Symbol Settings value' in Global Settings.

Do not use custom symbol settings at this time. We have identified one problem with duplicating settings that needs to be resolved.

It may not be the source of any problem in your case. But one thing we see that is wrong in your custom settings is Use Pattern Matching needs to be set to No.
