I have had continuous charts set up for some time and I am getting a rollover instruction for mgc. when i try to roll it over it just keeps giving me the same message.

When you select the option to rollover and you are given the window to select the contract to rollover to, make sure you select the next contract in that window. Sometimes the contract that is shown is the same as the current one, so you need to ensure you specifically select the contract to rollover to.
