Debian 12
kernel 6.1.0-35
GNOME shell 43.9
wine 10.0
SC2758

The system is dedicated to trading and only runs IBKR TWS and 2 separate SC installations, of which one connects to the TWS API. I am using the same chartbooks as always. Never had such problems before SC2758.

It is not an out-of-memory situation and is not related to CPU capacity. Overall system typically runs at ~11% CPU and the 2 CPU cores where SC runs on are at ~65% CPU.

Since upgrade to SC2758 I experience GUI failures, mostly freezes (but sometimes GNOME kills all applications before the freeze), typically after several hours of running the system (but may also occur when loading the chartbooks).

Did you change anything in SC2758 that may cause these problems?
The problem may also have been introduced in SC2757. I did not use SC2757 for a long time. Before that I used SC2755 for several weeks.

Some more technical details:

Hardware:
lspci -k | grep -EA3 'VGA|3D|Display'

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation AlderLake-S GT1 (rev 0c)
  DeviceName: Onboard - Video
Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd AlderLake-S GT1
  Kernel driver in use: i915

I see the following journal errors directly before the last crash:

journalctl -b -4|grep -iE "xorg|wayland|gpu|nvidia|amd|intel|drm|modesetting"

The following kernel messages may or may not be related to the problem:

The problem also occurs with older kernel 6.1.0-34.
So, we can rule out that the latest kernel update introduced the problem.

Have you tried other distros by any chance? I am currently running Sierra on LMDE6 and Manjaro, never had any issues

I had used SC before with Ubuntu 22.04 on a different machine. No basic issues with SC on Ubuntu. But Debian and Ubuntu are pretty much the same base system.

I did a thorough hardware test of the machine, comprising memory, CPU, GPU, SSD. No hw problems could be found.

I could do some profiling of SC using perf, WINEDEBUG, strace, apitrace, but using these sophisticated tools may destabilize SC. So, I would need some recommendations from your side how to apply these.

As a temporary workaround:
Can I downgrade my SC installations from SC2758 to SC2755?
Would this be just unzipping the SierraChart2755.zip into the respective install directories?
Or is more action needed?

That is what I always do for both upgrades and downgrades, just be careful, so you don't accidentally overwrite the custom studies or any personal files in Sierra folders

I see you are using xwayland on gnome...have you tried x11? I'm not sure how to switch however.

I have not tried X11. And I will not go back to X11.

in global graphics settings..in the "Other" tab... you could try toggling OpenGL for chart graphics. then restart and see if it's more stable with it enabled on or off.
