Here is what I am trying to accomplish: I have my NYSE TICK small window up, and I have "Use Number of Days to Load" as 1. I do this because I don't care at all about yesterday's activity, I only care about today's data from 9:30am to 4:00pm. But when the day starts, yesterday's data is still showing and today's data is appended, so I do a quick toggle of "use evening session" on and off so that the chart begins from today at 9:30am. This works okay, but it is an inconvenience and takes my focus off the opening prints which are very important. Another idea I had was to simply set the start date of the chart to today's date before the open (or set it the night before), but something strange happens--I set the start date to today's date, and the current time is prior to the start time of the chart's session, I get a mouse pointer that rapidly switches back and forth from hourglass to pointer, and the status area in the main Sierra window that has "DF:12345 ST:..." switches rapidly between its normal text and "Reading." So, it seems it's trying to read data from a file and no data has been found, and it goes into a loop. The good news is, there is no crash. And, once the current time rolls around to the chart start time, and once data is coming in, the chart behaves as normal. Also, Sierra is still interactive; it doesn't hang, which is good. But, for whatever purpose a user would have to set a future start date and time, it seems that the cursor blinking and the "reading" status flashing is probably not something that should be happening. If this were not taking place, I could set my start dates (I have two charts that I have to do this for) the night before and be free at the open to focus on the market and not getting my charts set up. Of course, if there is some way to force Sierra to automatically refresh when a new session starts, so I don't have to toggle the evening session on/off, I could simply use the "Use days to load" option, and keep it at 1.
