Anything below wine 1.5.x has noticable bugs and problems with the various trading programs. For any wine related problem, the first thing to do is always upgrade to the latest release. The ubuntu ppa handles that automatically. This doesn't look like a wine problem. I don't think those THREAD_DETACH's should be happening. There are a lot more in the log segment. It would definitely explain why the program freezes. This looks more like a threading conflict of some kind. If it were barfing, I would expect to see a lot of error messages in the log segment. The log makes it look like it just stops and waits for something. We'll see what the developers say.
