I ended up getting a great deal on a 5800 XT, with the benefit of selling the fancy cooler it came with. I run with disabled hyperthreading, stock everything else, use Process Lasso to allocate 2 cores per instance, and run 3 separate SC installs. Still on Windows 10; telemetry disabled as much as possible. Old B350 motherboard with B-die memory and tight timings. Big CPU cooler. Rock solid, runs cool and very quiet, few and fair between Windows updates, really pleased, not looking forward to October when Windows 10 support stops. Haven't needed to touch or tweak for over 6 months, forgot everything now anyway. Hoping SC Linux ready before Windows 10 goes. |
