however, what is consistently happening is, merged profiles on the daily stay merged but if i change the chart time frame to monthly, or any other timeframe for that matter, then go back to daily, they unmerge and i have to start all over again
This makes sense. You are changing the data in such a way that the sub-period time is changing. This requires a completely new calculation and therefore all merges are undone.
