i also default to 2cpu/2ram but i enable the adaptive hypervisor which i think takes more resources if needed i give it 256gb of my 1tb for storage but the containers only consume the actual size of the data i don't sync or integrate anything across the boundary. i think of it as my little sc sandbox if i need to share a file i just drag between finder and explorer or mount the windows drive under /Volumes/ this laptop only has 16gb of ram, but i've never felt it i have four different sierrachart instances.. one for live trading with orderflow stuff with the front month's tick data one for historical data and charting which i use 1 second storage format going back decades one for replay which has about 100gb of tick data since 2011 one i test my acsil code and stuff on it's all instantaneous with the exception of loading many contracts of tick data for replay which can peg a core for several seconds i use coherence, retina scaling, and disable just about everything else admittedly i was pretty diligent about uninstalling and disabling every service and startup item i safely could and also disabling every theming or ui enhancement things in windows one thing worth mentioning is that if you need to download lots of tick data make sure you're plugged in. older versions of parallels go into travel mode when unplugged which limits cpu and download speeds to like 100kbps.. you can disable it but i like it as i can get like 16h of battery life! happy to help if you have any more questions Date Time Of Last Edit: 2026-01-17 04:01:08
