They are pretty much the same with regards to resources. The choice on which way to run will depend on how you want to use the system. If you want to have a single connection point (the Main Instance) and control where the sub-instance is sending orders based on that Main Instance, then use the Sub-Instance option. But, if you want to have two different connection points (i.e. one to live trading and another to the Trading Emulator), then a dual installation setup would be the better option.
