Our advice at this time is to do nothing and not go back to an earlier version until we address the issue. We will solve this. We will have a solution tomorrow, Monday.

And then we will have a new version for you to update to, and when you save your Chartbooks, in this new version, you can then go back to any earlier version in recent years.

We are still not sure exactly what the cause is, but we strongly suspect it is compression/decompression related. If this is the case, we have never had an issue like this before and we have to investigate exactly what went wrong. It is not a problem that anyone would have noticed, if going to a new version and staying on the new version.

The issue might be that we have updated the compression library, zlib, and there may be a compatibility issue between a new version of that library and an older version used in older versions of Sierra Chart. This most likely is the explanation for the problem.

If so, then the bug, lies outside of Sierra Chart. And it is not anything that we would have been conscientious of. This is a well-established, compression library that is extensively used by software throughout the world including Web servers. We would never have contemplated, a compatibility issue like this.
