Post From: ALWAYS BACK UP CHARTBOOKS WHEN UPDATING / ROLLING BACK - CHARTBOOKS COULD BE DESTROYED

Regarding this thread we are looking into this.

We did a quick test, and we do see a problem reading a Chartbook written, in the current version of Sierra Chart, and going back to 2771.

However, the problem is very significant and must have something to do apparently with some difference in compression and decompression.

Otherwise, the errors that are occurring just are not making any sense and should never be occurring.

If it does relate to compression, the problem was inadvertent.

And there are backup Chartbooks available:
Chartbooks (Workspaces): Accessing a Backup Chartbook File

You simply need to use a Chartbook that was saved, when using the earlier version. This is all. It is easily resolved unless you have been using a newer version of Sierra Chart for more than 30 days.

This is a very unusual problem. It is not normal and such a problem like this has never occurred before. And we mean never. All of the Support Board threads you are linking to are completely all unrelated to this. They are unrelated. And not relevant at all.

The only explanation must have something to do with compression, but we have to see why that is the case because there has been no changes with compression for Chartbooks. This is just a working theory at this point in time.

And is not that the Chartbooks are destroyed, they are just simply not compatible, but there are backup Chartbooks! The backup Chartbooks are contained in a subfolder within the Sierra Chart installation folder.

This is a very high priority for us to look into. All work is going to stop until we determine what the cause is and we develop a solution.

Probably we will have a new version update, that you will then need to update to, that writes a Chartbook, in a compatible format that can be used in an older version. The issue must have something to do with compression. This is the only logical answer at this point in time.

Once again the Chartbooks are definitely not destroyed. If you simply do nothing, do not go back to an earlier version and wait for us to address the issue which we will have a solution for tomorrow, Monday, then you update to a new version that we will release, save your Chartbooks and then you can go back to an older version of Sierra Chart.

So at this time this is the proper procedure.
