Order Types: Limit Chase When using the Limit Chase order type, the order will automatically be modified up in the case of Buy Limit orders and down in the case of Sell Limit orders.
So let's say you're long a stock, and your target sell limit chase order is at 100, when the last price reaches 100 if your target order gets filled, great, if your order doesn't get filled and the price starts moving away from the target price (i.e. 100 going lower to 99.90 for example), the limit order will start chasing the market price so the target will get modified from 100 to 99.90 (1 tick value) and that process will keep happening until the order gets filled or you reach the max chase value set (also mentioned here Order Types: Limit Chase). Same thing happens with stop loss orders of that type and same thing happens with position initiating orders of that type. |
