In the Sub-Instance you would have to update the symbols manually. So you will have to change each chart that is not the correct symbol to be the correct symbol. The connection in the Sub-Instance is going to be whatever the Main Instance is connected to. The Sub-Instances (started by selecting "File >> New Instance") just pass the information through the main instance.
