Turning off Simulation Mode should not make any difference to your getting data or not in the Sub-Instances. As long as you have the correct symbols in the Sub-Instances, then you should get the data into those sub-instances. If everything is good now, then it is probably not worth prodding, but if you have issues later - let us know.
