Post From: Linear/Log Lines on Linear/Log scaling

I'm wary of opening up this can of worms but bear with me! On SC if you draw a line/ray on a linear scale and convert the scale to log, the line bends. This is mathmatically correct - every point on the line has a linear relationship to the other points on the line. Thus where it crosses a bar will be the same no matter if using linear or log scale. While there is the option to draw a 'straight' line on the log chart, it appears to be a bit of a fudge in that its not actually a logarithmic line, but a linear line that's been extended. Would it be possible to add a logarithmic calculated line to the suite of tools, this would draw curved line on a linear chart and straight on a logarithmic chart? Mathmatically this would seem to be correct and would make SC the only product (I know of) to actually do both of these tasks correctly! (I'd need to do the sums but I think this might open the door to logarithmic pitchforks and probably other sloping drawing tools too). Thanks. |
