Select one of the charts that is having the issue then select Chart >> Graph Draw Types and see what drawing style is selected in there. It sounds it is currently set to Candlestick Bars Hollow. If it is, then just select Candlestick Bars to get the traditional (filled) candlesticks. If this is not the issue, then get us a screenshot of your chart so we can see what it looks like.
