Thanks! I have managed to set up the Visual C++ debugging properly. In the Visual Studio Installer I had to download the "MVSC v140 - VS 2015 C++ built tools (v14.0)" installation from the "Desktop development with C++" category (attached photo). I think it might help other users in the future if You include this information somewhere in the documentation.
