I have used both calculation 2 and 3 and this occurs frequently but not all the time If in a down trend; (or uptrend) the direction will sometimes change even though the next bar is lower (higher for an uptrend) for the attached chart Calculation is 3 reversal 17 number of bars required 1 I have circled two points where the bar after the direction turn has a lower low.
