Dotted lines have always been problematic. You mention dashed lines also having the same behavior, although we do not see this ourselves. Try using a dashed line and if that helps. Another option, if your graphics card supports OpenGL, and if you are not already using it, would be to enable the OpenGL option to see if it changes the behavior of the lines.
