A while back, I did an analysis using historical data as far back as would load from my data provider, which is a CQG product I get through my broker. Months later, when I pulled up that chartbook again, the oldest data was no longer there (i.e. the data started months later). I was confused, because I thought the old data was stored in my SierraChart\Data folder. 2 Questions: 1) Is this (the inability to access historical data beyond a certain timeframe earlier than present, even if I had previously downloaded that data) a Sierra Chart issue or a data provider issue? Or a combination of the 2? Is there a setting in Sierra Chart that I could change whereby the older data would be preserved and accessible? 2) If the answer to the above question is "no, the old data must be lost", then: When backing up Sierra Chart to restore in a different location, is it really necessary to copy over the market data files that are in the \Data folder? If I am not getting any different data than Sierra Chart would load for me when I open the program, why bother? Thanks!!
