Post From: Mandatory Update for Gain Capital/OEC Users

Over the weekend beginning with February 1, 2020, a mandatory update for all Gain Capital/OEC users will be required. We will be putting out an update notice and Sierra Chart will automatically update.

There are two reasons for this. The historical data source is going to change from the current source from historical data built from a data feed provided by Gain Capital, to the Sierra Chart historical data service in combination with the recent 10-15 minutes of data from the Gain Capital FIX/FAST server.

We were informed by Gain Capital that they cannot continue to provide the current data feed we use for historical data maintenance due to exchange market data compliance rules, or they need to start charging more for it.

This change is not going to cause any user any problem. As a matter of fact you are going to really be better off using the new historical data source. It is going to be much more reliable.

Additionally, the CME has informed Gain Capital, that we need to identify whether an order is automated or manual. So this flag is now going to be sent through with all orders when using Gain Capital. This is already the case with other services we support.

Right now if you have any problems with historical data access from Gain Capital update to prerelease 2041. You can do this with Help >> Download Prerelease. You may have a problem accessing the most recent 10 minutes of data when running 2039 or 2040. Although if you are using the Denali Exchange Data Feed, you will not be having any problem now.
