Or can I have TWS open in my mac and Sierra open in Parallels? Yes you can but you need to specify the IP address in the Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Service Setting >>Server Address and Port setting of where TWS is running.Otherwise you do have to run TWS within Parallels.
