tomgilb idea is probably the best way. I always have a "stop in the market" to save my account, usually a swing high or swing low. But I have used a "hidden stop" (spreadsheet)as my true stoploss. Its usually close to my entry and I don't want the market to see it. The market will tend to reach out grab your stop to the tick and then move in your chosen direction.
