You can change this by unchecking the following setting: Chart >> Chart Settings >> Advanced Settings >> Highlight Timescale Dates, Months, Years. Although, contrary to what the setting states, if you are looking at a chart with a Daily or higher time frame, the Year will always be in the reverse colors (with the background box).
