The current resetting mechanism appears to be haphazard. It may even be that different criteria are being used to reset a bid volume value than what's being used to reset an ask volume value. It is very simple. Bid volume at price "X" will reset only when the following two conditions occur (assuming X is currently bid and is accumulating): 1) A price other than X trades at the bid (not only becomes bid) 2) X becomes bid and trades at the bid Substitute "ask" for "bid" in the above and the rules are identical.
