As a long term Sierra user, and new user to IB, I had the same issues. IB's TWS is the most cumbersome trading platform I have ever tried to use with horrible price lag, poor execution, and ridiculously slow loading time. Instead of TWS use the IB gateway. Download it from IB...start it up....then start and connect Sierra to the gateway. I've had zero issues since.
