For any Android users, you should turn off battery optimization and switch to Websockets to make it work properly. For a long time, I wasn't getting notifications sent unless I refreshed daily. These past two weeks, I'm finally getting notifications without having to refresh.

We have made some changes to the messages which are sent through the ntfy app.

You will no longer get messages more often than 15 seconds. This is to regulate the flow of messages to prevent hitting service provider limits and causing lost messages.

We discovered, a small issue with the sending of messages which could cause a message to not be sent if there is already an outstanding message being sent. This problem is now resolved.

With the two changes, there should be more reliable message delivery and we still are going to be working on direct Google Firebase integration, which will not require the ntfy app. Nevertheless you can continue to use the ntfy app.

Update:

One thing we want to make clear, with the sending of messages to the ntfy app, no more often than 15 seconds, is that all of the messages that are sent from a particular chat, usually a private group receiving alerts, are combined together over that 15 second time and sent as one notification message to the ntfy app.

This would mean, that there is no alert message even sent to the chat:
and only the first message shows up in the SC Chat Window.

This is definitely not true:
When numerous alerts are triggered too fast, SC just ignores all but the first one
That has always been an issue with alerts,
How is the alert generated?

This is not true either:
, but if that carries over to mobile alerts using Chat

For security reasons, the notification messages to the ntfy app which usually you will be running on a mobile phone type device, now only contain a link to the web chat:
https://apps.sierrachart.com/WebChat/#!/notifications

This link puts the web chat into a more simpler notification only type of view, where all of the chat messages are listed in time descending order.

The problem with the ntfy app is that it does use Google Firebase, and the content of messages can therefore be recorded by Google. With this change, this will no longer be the case. Since there is nothing that can be captured by Google.

This change has gone into immediate effect.

We are now providing an option to control the content of mobile notifications:

https://www.sierrachart.com/UserControlPanel.php?page=PushNotifications

There is a privacy setting where you can control what is sent. You can set it to be either the actual message text which usually is an alert message, or just a link to the web chat.:
