I placed these buttons in a control bar: "Buy Ask", "Sell Bid", "OrdQty Btn 1 (1)", "OrdQty Btn 2 (2)", ..., "Cancel All", "Centr DOM" I *think* they all worked at first. Starting last night, "Buy Ask" and "Sell Bid" stopped working---the buttons are clickable but there's no effect. "Cancel All" still worked. This morning, "Cancel All" also stopped working. These buttons on the Trade window work as expected. The "OrdQty Btn .." I placed in the control bar work---I can see they control the corresponding button in the Trade window. "Centr DOM" has always worked. I have a main chart on the left, and a DOM window with its attached Trade window on the right. Must be some config I touched by mistake. Any pointer is appreciated! |

Check the setting for "Trade >> Trading Keyboard Shortcuts Enabled". This controls both Keyboard Shortcuts and Control Bar buttons. So if this is not enabled, then control bar buttons associated with trading commands (such as "Buy Bid") will not work. Refer to the following: Trade Menu: Trading Keyboard Shortcuts Enabled (Trade menu) If it is the above, then you should get a message in your Message Log stating that you need to enable the option when you select a control bar button/keyboard shortcut. Otherwise, if not the above, then check your Message Log and see if there is anything else in there regarding this. Also check the "Trade >> Trade Service Log" to see if there are any messages in there. Let us know if you see something in particular that needs further explanation. The "shortcut enable" and the message log are both very helpful. Thanks for that. The message in this case might better be a popup window, as this is user error. After enabling shortcut, the "buy" and "sell" buttons worked. However, the "OrdQty" buttons no longer control the corresponding buttons in the Trade window; and the "cancel all" button still did not work. Then I had some more discovery. If I use a Trade window attached to the main chart, the trade buttons I place in a control bar are better sync-ed with that Trade window. Specifically, the "buy", "sell", "cancel all" buttons work; the "use attached orders" chosen on the Trade window is in effect for the buy/sell buttons on the control bar. The same consistency can't be said if I'm using a Trade window that's attached to the DOM. (Above is observation yesterday. Update the next morning: things no longer work as consistently. Will provide more details.) |

My window is here https://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1747154525300.png I'm on trial using sim account. Maybe that affects something. The Trade window is attached to the main chart, in which "use attached orders" is NOT selected. Symbol is MESM25-cme. Looks like behavior of the control bar buttons are still consistent (or "sync-ed" or "integrated") with the Trade window. For example, - If I place a bracket order on Trade window, which leaves 2 pending orders. "Cancel All" on the control bar will cancel them. However, - If I place a bracket order on DOM, which leaves 2 pending orders, "cancel all" in the Trade window (attached to the main chart, not the DOM) will cancel them, but the "cancel all" in the control bar will not cancel them. Moreover, - Bracket order placed in DOM (by clicking Buy column) is unrelated to the "User Attached Orders" selection in the Trade window. It's a bracket order because yesterday I had a Trade window attached to DOM (and I guess it selected "Use Attached Orders" on it). Now that the Trade window has been closed, its bracket setting is still in effect for the DOM. There are some confusions here. |

The reason I want to use trade buttons in the control bar is that there's no way to hide buttons on Trade (can only disable). There are too many on Trade, some I don't want to use, hence it's error prone.

With regards to the Trade Window. Any manual orders you place on a chart are going to use the settings that are setup in the Trade Window for that chart. Therefore, items like "Use Attached Orders" and the "Order Type" and "Quantity" are all going to be set by what is in Trade Window. This is also going to be true for any Control Bar buttons you are using - whatever you select in the Control Bar buttons will be reflected in the Trade Window (and vice versa). One of the important points is that each chart/DOM has its own Trade Window. So the settings for one chart may not be the same for another. You can link the Trade Windows if you want them all to be the same all the time. Refer to the following: Basic Trading and the Trade Window: Each Trade Window is Completely Independent from Others Given the above, please give us one scenario that is not working - just one. We will then deal with that one situation and determine what is occurring. Note that what you are seeing does not have anything to do with being on a trial. It sounds like it is just getting used to how Sierra Chart functions.
