I have a funded account with Ironbeam. Their day trade margins for ES, MES are 500, 50 respectively, Why are Sierra Chart margins greater than the broker, by 3 times? Not being critical, just looking to understand the process here for future trading. Thanks |

Sierra Chart does not control margins. So we do not have an answer on this.

Thank you for the response When I go into the Trade Account Monitor/Balance Window, and selct Manage (my account), Edit Trade Account, Margin, and enter The ES symbol (ESM25_FUT_CME), the screen returns Exchange Margin $24,271.50, and Account Margin $1,699.01. I would have to believe that the Account Margin amount is the Marging required by Sierra Chart for (1) ES contract. That's where I'm somewhat confused between IronBeams day trade rates and what I'm seeing on the Trade Account Monitor. If I were to use Ironbeams day trade margin of $500, would my trade be rejected? Thanks again for your patience with my question |

The lower margin you see, is based upon a percentage calculation and that percentage is set by the clearing firm. We do not control that. They make their own decisions on what to do. And they have their own reasons.

Any chance this is the same issue as Margin Requirement Incorrect Value ? @User787305, does the margin update to another value when you place an order (ex LMT)? Doesn't have to execute. |

@User510332, not sure how that is relevant to the issue I've reported, but the margin value reported in sierrachart is wrong, the fact that the value changed (get corrected) when an order is placed confirms that.
