At some point, we need more than two (day/evening) sessions

I realize that the two Day/Evening sessions concept is so baked into SC's core code and studies that it will probably never happen, but we need the ability to have more than 2 sessions.

Pretty much all futures contracts follow the same pattern:
* Session open which is 6pm ET for most
* Cash/pit session the next day (9am for crude, 9:30 for equity index, 8:20 for treasuries, etc.)
* Post-settlement (2:30pm for crude, 4pm for ES, 3pm for treasuries, etc.)

The same pattern applies for US stocks. 4am pre-market open, 9:30am cash open, 4pm post-market open.

(More exotic futures contracts have pauses and are not as straightforward)

Each new session should have a new bar. That is the main requirement.

For a volume profile, I can do custom intraday sessions, but without a new bar, they will never be accurate. There is no way to achieve 3 separate profiles which have accurate start/end times, for the above cases.

If we could just have some way to create a new bar at one more time, it would suffice. I'm not holding my breath, but I at least wanted to express that this is a limitation currently.

of course it is possible to start a new bar at session start: go to Chart and Chart-Settings and Sessions Times and there you can set New Bar Át Session Start to YES

(not sure, maybe I missread your question)

Yes, you misread my question. We have a new bar at the day session, and a new bar at the evening session (say, 9:30 and 18:00). However, to delineate the post-settlement session at 16:00, we need a new bar then as well.

This is not a huge issue with time bars, but is a problem with other kinds of bars.

Is this a typical requirement. Why not put that one hour from 4 PM to 5 PM Eastern time, for example in the case of equity futures, either into the evening session or the day session.

If the 4pm to 5pm ET is put into the evening session, then the evening session will not have proper highs/lows (a profile, for example).

If it's put into the day session, then even with a custom subsession on the VbP study, two problems occur: (1) the two sessions (9:30 to 4pm, and 4pm to 5pm) are not properly contained in their respective profiles, and (2) when hiding the evening session, the 4pm to 5pm extra profiles still show up.

I understand that it's not likely to get changed, due to scope of work, but I at least wanted to raise it as a feature request, in case you guys ever decide to rework some stuff, and it becomes feasible.

Note that with a product like crude oil, it's an even bigger thing, because the time between settlement at 2:30pm and last trade at 5pm is so large.
