Trading equities through SC

Hello - I trade multiple asset classes. I have used SC for futures historically. Stock and options trading happen elsewhere, but I'm thinking about bringing some of the equities execution to SC because I've grown to really like SC. Last I checked, the only broker you integrate with was IB, though I've seen some chatter that after the inception of NASDAQ total view and US equities consolidated tape feeds a while back, SC may enter into agreements to support additional brokers. I can't see any evidence of that having happened. Questions: 1. Is IB still the only way to trade equities with SC as the front-end? Are others on the horizon? 2. If IB only, some setup questions. I can select IB under global settings / data/trade service settings, but it defaults to a server address of 127.0.0.1 (loopback adaptor) so presumably, if TWS is running on the same machine, it connects via IB's API setup. I found the SC documentation for this already. However: 2.1 It recommends we use SC to store bracket/OCO orders and not have them be server-side at IB. Is that still the standard recommendation and if so, why? OCOs being server-side can be critical in short timeframes, but I wouldn't do it if somehow it's not going to work as advertised. I have not found server-side OCOs to be unreliable at IB, trading through a MotiveWave front-end with a 3rd party feed (IQfeed in that case). 2.2. Enable financial advisors account setting (which seems to post-date the SC documentation I've found). I have technically a "friends and family advisor" account at IB. Do I need to set this to 'yes' although I obviously don't pay myself fees? 2.3. Most importantly, how do I use the SC data fees for equities as IB's own data has always been basically garbage? I'm subscribed to Denali, NASDAQ total view, and US consolidated tape. I have package 12 with SC. How do I use those feeds instead of IB's but still execute through IB? I realize I will have to set the symbol to SC's symbol and the 'trade and current quote symbol' to IB's equivalent symbol. 2.4. I'm aware that total view gives you the market depth but consolidated tape gives you the full picture. I do need the DOM including MBO which implies I should keep total view, but is that data only provided on products listed on NASDAQ, or NYSE et al also? Again, I have Denali, NASDAQ total view _and_ US equities consolidated tape. Trying to understand whether one or more are redundant given this use case. Many thanks. |

1. IB is still the only equities broker we interface with. There is nothing specific on the horizon at this time. 2.1. It is fine to use server-side OCO orders and bracket orders as long as you are not making modification to the quantities. This is where there could be some problems. Make sure these options are enabled in Global Settings >> General Trade Settings: Use Server-side OCO Orders Use Server-side Bracket Orders 2.2. We do not know the answer to this. It is not something we can help with. 2.3. What you state is all you need to do - i.e. set the Symbol and "Trade and Current Quote Symbol" as you state. 2.4. You need both exchanges active to get the Consolidated Tape price and volume and the Market Depth and MBO from the NASDAQ TotalView (make sure you enter the symbol with the _MBO suffix, such as TSLA_MBO).
