[User Discussion] - Need help installing SC on Ubuntu OS

I receive an error when trying to load SierraChartFileDownloader.exe on my Ubuntu OS computer with this terminal command - Downloads$ wine SierraChartFileDownloader.exe The error reads "Failed to open the file: Z:\SierraChart\DownloadedInstallationFiles\SC_remote_assistance.exe.Error:File error: Windows error code 3: Path not found." What do I need to do install this program? I am using Wine version 9.0 I am using Ubuntu 24.04.1. I was using SC on MS Windows 10. I am now permanently done with all MS products for a myriad of reasons. I hope not to lose SC as a casualty of this decision. I was unable to attach a screenshot of the Sierra Chart Installer window. Most of the info that is in the installer window is included in my message above. Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks - Mark |

During the installation, use the C:\SierraChart path instead of Z:.... The issue is being caused by the incorrect drive letter. Hope this helps. |

I wish I had known that before spending money on a reserved EC2 Windows instance. Ubuntu is far cheaper than a Windows EC2 instance.

I am happy to be far away from Windows, and there are many good (and free) alternatives for running SC through wine and keeping the MS cruft off of your computer. I had problems with Ubuntu and moved on ... but not back to Windows.
