There are 100 charts in my chartbook and 500 studies including new spreadsheet study. When receiving RT data (Barchart datafeed) it seems that studies do not calculate right - processing ticks for every chart. I'm not sure if this is due to bad quality data coming via data feed due to loss, or SC system fails to process data correctly due to some limitations. Computer load (i7 / Windows 8.1) for SC application is about 15%, 100Mb internet connection should be good enough. Chart Update Interval - 500 ms. Please advise what can be wrong and how I can to troubleshoot this problem.

Can SC process 100 charts with 500 custom studies? Is it possible SC delays or skips data processing during exchange peak hours when a large volume of data coming via data feed? Can increased market activity overload SC system so that it starts handling data incorrectly?

It is hard for us to answer this question. The general rule is that if Sierra Chart is sluggish then it is under stress but that will not cause data loss from the data feed unless the data feed drops the data on the server side. Sierra Chart uses a very large incoming network socket buffer to eliminate this kind of problem. Rather than using the Barchart Data Service directly, have a look at the Sierra Chart Real-time and Historical Exchange Data Feed: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChartRealTimeFuturesStockDataFeed.php Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Here are some additional thoughts: Have you also used/tried the old spreadsheet system? Same results? I've seen performance differences between new and old spreadsheet system especially if the spreadsheet formulars are more complicated/lenghty. SC is working on this. Do you have these 100 charts on one SC instance spread across more than one monitor? Might be better to use more than one SC instance, e.g. one for each monitor. |
