suppose I open several attached orders on the same instrument, each with a trail stop to break even.
since each attached order was entered at a different price, what would be the break even price?
a. the average entry price
or
b. each attached order keeps its own stop which would trail to that order entry price

please explain.

Thanks

It will be this unless you are using Scaling In:

Thank you, that makes sense.
Is there a way to cancel the trail (i.e. keep the stop loss where it is without trailing it) after the trade was executed?

No that is not supported.

You would have to cancel the stop order and enter a new one.

when I do that is there a way to make the new stop attached to the order?
otherwise it stays active when I close the position.

No but the only concern would be having it associated with the Target order if there is one. If there is no Target order, then it does not have to be associated with the original parent. When you use the Flatten button that will cancel existing orders when using that to close the position.
