is there a way to reference study inputs in Alert Conditions? e.g. SG1 > some input

Alerts are looking for subgraphs and/or calculations. Use a Spreadsheet Formula study and set the value in the Formula input setting to the number you want, then the alert can reference SG1 of the Spreadsheet Formula. One can also use the Horizontal Lines study for multiple settings.

thanks.. you wouldn't have any idea why I get an error saying the email username is not found even thought the settings dialog says "email or twitter username" and I'm typing in the twitter username because I want to get twitter DMs (I did configure twitter in the control panel)... if I use it for email it will work, I just have problems trying to figure out how to get twitter alerts

I would follow the steps here: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/GeneralSettings.html&CAID=default#WhatToDoIfYouDoNotGetAnEMailAlertMessage

There is also a Twitter Control Panel that needs to be configured: https://www.sierrachart.com/UserControlPanel.php?page=Twitter

That is correct:

You can include Twitter accounts within the list of emails using the standard format: @account.
