What’s the best way to put a stair step on close chart underneath a regular chart. So it appears as an indicator. Can this be done without using the price overlay study?

Try this: Add the Moving Average - Simple study - Set the Based On to the Main Price Graph - Set the Input Data to Last - Set the Length to 1 - Set the Draw Style to Stair Step
