Charts that start before 2012?

I know this is going to be an easy answer but for some reason I can't load a chart that starts before 2012-01-01. I have tried a variety of symbols and is doesn't work for any of them. Is this because IB doesn't provide it? I went into chart settings and tried everything I could think of including daily weekly and quarterly charts but they all start Jan 1 2012.
