I get an out-of-memory error in the Message Log sometimes which crashes one or more charts. The PC has plenty of spare RAM [10GB used 6GB free] I do have lots of intraday charts open. The charts do have short Bar Periods by Volume Per Bar. The error/crash happens late in the day ....so after a lot of data has streamed into Sierra over time, or when I reload a full days data [1st thing in the morning seems ok]. I guess I could solve the problem by reducing chart numbers, study numbers in charts or increasing Bar Periods, but if anything i'd like to increase all three in the future. Are there any tips you can give about how I could structure the charts, studies, Sierra, operating system to help? I run two instances of Sierra together. I tried running an Evening Session today with the idea of loading in just a half days data, i still got a crash [maybe i've not set that right yet?] |

Refer to the documentation here about an out of memory condition: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_WorkingWithCharts.html#OutOfMemoryCondition We have updated that page now. So reload the page in your browser when going to it again and review the updated information. Sierra Chart cannot access more than 4 GB of memory maximum. Thanks, I'll re-work the charts and add another Sierra instance. Could the idea of using an Evening Session help? Defining an Evening Session as say the last 2hrs. Might that limit the amount of data loading to the last 2hrs? On several charts I'd be happy to see only the last 5mins of data [if it can be limited somehow..... or if data can be discarded somehow older than a certain time] Anything I can do along those lines? Thanks. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2015-10-22 19:03:16

We do not see how the Session Times would make any significant difference.

One last idea. If I re-start Sierra, say at mid-day, can I stop it loading in intraday data from the morning? Or can I flush-out/delete that intraday data before I close n save Sierra....so when I re-start Sierra the intraday data is empty. Anything along those lines? Many thanks.
