Sierra DOM Scaling no good solution for me

May be I am missing something, but to me, all of the DOM scaling types don't really work well for real trading environments. If you have constant range selected, you have to manually recenter by scrolling or double clicking, if you have auto center enabled, then you dont really get to see price move in a way that is helpful for trading imo. The other types are unuseable also. I have recently switched from a setup that uses 1 dom, to a more scalping oriented setup that uses 5 DOMs and charts above them. The issue now is that I am spending 8-10 hrs/day double clicking and scrolling 5 DOMs, which isn't pleasant and I worry that I will eventually look like a crab, with 1 giant claw. I have used the CTS T4 DOM, and it has a fantastic feature which is to slowly and constantly autoscroll itself back to the center position. I really liked the way this worked. Another alternative would be to auto recenter based on a user definable # of ticks away from center, ie price gets 10 ticks from center then the DOM recenters. If Sierra already has a solution for this, I'd love to hear it, but my feeling is that since the DOM is considered a chart in Sierra, which is Genius in it's own right because it allows a lot of customisation, it forces the DOM to stick to scrolling/centering methods of a chart, which it really is not. Please help before I have to switch to the much inferior CTS T4 just for that DOM Thanks |

Your understanding is correct. The only thing that we can suggest now is that we will put this down as a possible new scaling option: Another alternative would be to auto recenter based on a user definable # of ticks away from center, ie price gets 10 ticks from center then the DOM recenters.

That addition to scaling for the DOM would be a MASSIVE improvement, and it need to be user defined because of the way different instruments move ie 1 tick for Bonds is a lot bigger relative move than say for YM, where 1 tick is tiny and it moves 10-20 ticks all the time. Thanks very much for considering this, I feel it is very important |

+1 on this. However there should be a caution when this auto-center is done. In case one is trying to enter an order at a specific price and then there is an auto-center there is a possibility of some one entering at a wrong price. A considerable thought needs to be given towards implementation on this. Thanks |

ejtrader most software prevent that problem by pausing the auto-center when the mouse is hovering over the ladder. Hopefully Sierra can do something similar.

that would be a great enhancement.. it may end a pretty annoying decade of scrolling :) thank you both, User80572 for bringing that up and SierraChart for putting it on the list. Andreas |

Just curious if there is a timeline to implement this? Getting one giant crab arm from double clicking to recenter 5 DOMs all day. thanks

We will try to get this done in the next two weeks. Also there is Trade >> Re-Center Trade DOM Scales which does a re-center for all of them at once. You can set up a keyboard shortcut for this command. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Just following up on this issue again, I'm now using the CTS platform until this addition is added, I have carpel tunnel developing in my right arm from recentering 6 DOMs 100's of times per day. Thanks

Have a look at using a touchscreen. It should help.If the condition is serious, also surgery will help as well as long as it is done properly. Do not take this the wrong way, just offering advice based on experience. This condition can be potentially be serious and can result in nerve damage if not attended to properly and promptly. Also this condition is not specific to an arm but a hand. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. If you are already working on @Japhro's request then no, no need to add this function.
