Hi Sierra Chart Engineering, Posting this here for your evaluation. If these changes make sense for the product, they would benefit all Sierra Chart users. I have been working on paint cost for a custom Volume Profile, specifically what the histogram looks like once the price axis is compressed. The calculation can stay on a 1-tick ladder. POC, value area, and bucket volumes do not have to change. This is only how those ticks are drawn. sc.RegionValueToYPixelCoordinate is many-to-one as soon as a tick is smaller than a pixel. I pointed a helper at 7400.00 on a 0.25 tick chart and got yy=923 for 7399.50 through 7400.00: three prices, one pixel. Draw all three and two fills cannot show. Two things that helped: 1. Skip borders when the volume rectangle is thinner than about 5 px. On a 1-3 px row a 1 px border is the row. Stack those and the fill is gone; you just see border color. 2. Walk buckets longest width first, remember which Y pixels are already filled, and skip shorter bars that map to the same RegionValueToYPixelCoordinate. The only bar you can see at that Y is the longest one. Notes with screenshots: https://starpenta.com/volume-profile-design Same writeup is attached as a PDF. This ships in the StarPenta Volume Profile if anyone wants to poke at the histogram: https://starpenta.com/volume-profile |
