Hello,

One of the many things I really love about Sierra Chart is the ability to map keyboard shortcuts to every single platform function. However, there is one area where the platform needs improvement, specifically when it comes to managing order quantities.

When I started scalping low float stocks, I was forced to switch from Sierra Chart to Lightspeed Trader Pro because that platform lets users route and cancel orders at lightning speed, which is absolutely vital for scalpers.

You can work with orders quickly in Sierra Chart too, but there are currently a few limitations.

Probably the biggest issue I see is the inability to adjust order sizes on the fly.

While Sierra does let you type the exact order size on your keyboard (for example, typing OQ100 for 100 shares), it's relatively slow since you have to hit multiple keys in a row. On top of that, if you're entering a larger order (like 12,000 shares), it's incredibly easy to make a typo.

It turns into a total nightmare if you're a forex trader wanting to quickly buy something like 10 lots this way. For a buy order like that, you have to type OQ1000000, since Sierra doesn't work with standard lots.

That doesn't mean the OQ (Order Quantity) command is completely useless. It works fine for futures traders who enter small order sizes. But an equities, forex, or crypto trader isn't going to appreciate this feature nearly as much.

To make Sierra work better for all types of traders, I suggest the following updates:

Add these commands to Trading Keyboard Shortcuts for exact order size entry:

Order Quantity = 1
Order Quantity = 2
Order Quantity = 3
Order Quantity = 4
Order Quantity = 5
Order Quantity = 6
Order Quantity = 7
Order Quantity = 8
Order Quantity = 9
Order Quantity = 10
Order Quantity = 20
Order Quantity = 30
Order Quantity = 40
Order Quantity = 50
Order Quantity = 60
Order Quantity = 70
Order Quantity = 80
Order Quantity = 90
Order Quantity = 100
Order Quantity = 200
Order Quantity = 300
Order Quantity = 400
Order Quantity = 500
Order Quantity = 600
Order Quantity = 700
Order Quantity = 800
Order Quantity = 900
Order Quantity = 1,000
Order Quantity = 2,000
Order Quantity = 3,000
Order Quantity = 4,000
Order Quantity = 5,000
Order Quantity = 6,000
Order Quantity = 7,000
Order Quantity = 8,000
Order Quantity = 9,000
Order Quantity = 10,000
Order Quantity = 20,000
Order Quantity = 30,000
Order Quantity = 40,000
Order Quantity = 50,000
Order Quantity = 60,000
Order Quantity = 70,000
Order Quantity = 80,000
Order Quantity = 90,000
Order Quantity = 100,000
Order Quantity = 200,000
Order Quantity = 300,000
Order Quantity = 400,000
Order Quantity = 500,000
Order Quantity = 600,000
Order Quantity = 700,000
Order Quantity = 800,000
Order Quantity = 900,000
Order Quantity = 1,000,000

Add these commands to Trading Keyboard Shortcuts for quickly fine-tuning order sizes:

Increase Order Quantity by 1 (Instead of the current “Increase Order Quantity”)
Decrease Order Quantity by 1 (Instead of the current “Decrease Order Quantity”)
Increase Order Quantity by 5
Decrease Order Quantity by 5
Increase Order Quantity by 10
Decrease Order Quantity by 10
Increase Order Quantity by 50
Decrease Order Quantity by 50
Increase Order Quantity by 100
Decrease Order Quantity by 100
Increase Order Quantity by 500
Decrease Order Quantity by 500
Increase Order Quantity by 1,000
Decrease Order Quantity by 1,000
Increase Order Quantity by 5,000
Decrease Order Quantity by 5,000
Increase Order Quantity by 10,000
Decrease Order Quantity by 10,000
Increase Order Quantity by 50,000
Decrease Order Quantity by 50,000
Increase Order Quantity by 100,000
Decrease Order Quantity by 100,000

Add these missing commands to Trading Keyboard Shortcuts for order management and closing positions:

Cancel Last Order - Cancels the most recent order, regardless of whether it is a buy or sell order.
Cancel Nearest Buy Order - Cancels the nearest buy limit or stop order.
Cancel Nearest Sell Order - Cancels the nearest sell limit or stop order.
Close 1/2 - Closes half of the position.
Close 1/3 - Closes one-third of the position.
Close 1/4 - Closes a quarter of the position.
Close 1/5 - Closes one-fifth of the position.

Thank you in advance for considering my proposal.

We have noted this as a Feature Request.

We can not say when we would get to any particular request.

We do want to point out that a fast way to change the quantity is to use the Trade Configurations. There are 32 keyboard shortcuts that can be set to specific trading configurations, where each configuration could be a specific quantity with the rest of the setup for the Trade Window the same. Refer to the following:
Basic Trading and the Trade Window: Using and Changing Between Different Trade Window and Attached Orders Configurations
For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service:
Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing
